A study of the conditions in Indian government schools persuaded us to focus on raising basic standards of performance and engagement for every learner, rather than simply raising the level of excellence of a few students.

However, most states across India currently follow the traditional 'train the trainer model'. The efficacy of knowledge transfer using this model is questionable. We need scalability and fidelity of transfer, if we are going to make real impact on teacher-training.
